Living With Chron’s Disease

by
Processed with VSCO with s1 preset I went back and forth about doing this post. As a blogger and influencer I try to be as open as I possibly can but there are some things I believe should be kept private and for a long time I thought this was one of those things. But I wouldn't be authentic without showing the world only the ups of my life. We're all human and everyone's life is full of ups and downs. I also realized that the more I share my story the lighter the load becomes. I can be open and frank about my health and that feels amazing. So with that said I have been dealing with chrons for almost 4 years now. I was diagnosed a month after graduating law school. No one knows where it comes from and unfortunately, more and more people are becoming diagnosed everyday. This was once a disease that was more common in elderly people, but now individuals younger and younger are being diagnosed. Some say because of all of the bad things put into our foods and because of overall pollution. But as I mentioned no one actually knows how it starts and why only certain people have it. I won't get into details too much but for those who are unfamiliar with chrons, it is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines, especially the colon and ileum, associated with ulcers and fistulae. In basic terms, its inflammation in your digestive system that sometimes makes eating food painful because its not being broken down properly because of the ulcers in that area. Sounds like no fun right, it's not! However, there are medications that can keep inflammation at bay. I myself have tried many and I feel like in the last year I've finally found a treatment that works for me. I  can confidently say I have been feeling the best I have in years this last year. But it took a lot of prayer, lots of support, and more patience then I ever thought I had. Processed with VSCO with s1 preset img_4302 6ae69daa-6553-4cd1-bd0b-bab0c093ea20 My goal for this post was to show another side to what life is like in my heels. Not to say I don't want to raise awareness for chrons, but this post is really to promote wellness. Living a healthy life in my opinion is not just about working out and eating right. I believe living a positive stress free life is the most important thing you can do for yourself. Getting your mind and soul right comes first, then your body will soon follow. When I was first diagnosed I went to extreme measures trying to heal myself. I thought I needed to remove all dairy or go gluten free, I even tried to become a vegan. I was working out non-stop thinking that it was my body that wasn't in order when it wasn't that at all. It was stressful and a negative lifestyle that I was living . No food, workout, etc could solve the bad energy I had in my life and it needed to removed. People really don't realize how much impact the energy you have around you, affects your life. Although there is no definite known trigger for chrons, studies have shown that stress is the main culprit for a reaction. At that moment, I decided to become extremely selfish, and not in a bad way. But selfish because I decided to take as long as I needed to get myself right. I couldn't' be bothered with any negative energy, or involved in someone else's drama. Whether it was stress from work, depression from school, drama from relationships and friendships; slowly I started eliminating everything and everyone where I didn't feel positive vibrations. img_4307 Processed with VSCO with s1 preset Processed with VSCO with s1 preset Changing your mind set can actually work wonders on your body. I know that society puts so much pressure on body image. But that is completely wrong to me, the pressure should be on being healthy. For example I am slim always have been and I'll probably always will be, but guess what I'd take any other body type that didn't have inflammation. But don't get me wrong, I never have pity parties for myself, not once have I ever said why me. I just play the hand I was given. I was put on this earth and placed in this body for a reason and I am grateful to be here living and breathing. Social media has had a huge impact on health for good and bad reasons. Now more then ever people are sharing their tricks and tips on fitness and healthy living. But the downside is all the comparison, everyone wants to looks like someone else and not themselves. What I have to say to that, is you never know what's going on in that persons life, you don't know what body or health issues they may be facing. Social media is just a small glimpse into people's lives. Be grateful and happy for the body you were given. Treat your body right and treat your mind and spirit even better. Thank you so much for allowing me to share with you all, hope this helped in any way. I'd love to hear your comments and for you to share with me as well. Feel free to email me privately as also hello@lifeinbeverlyheels.com. Happy Monday!!! :-) Processed with VSCO with s1 preset 1a828863-1ef6-4018-a8de-14bb66206e49

Great post!!! Stress can have a physical manifestation on your body. This is often an area people ignore and as you stated they assume that health’s source only lies in what you eat and how active you are. Thank you so much for being transparent and using your platform to uplift others. You’ve encouraged me!!
